China's crude oil imports hit a record high in September

The preliminary data released by the General Administration of Customs recently showed that China’s crude oil imports reached 23.29 million tons in September. This figure increased by 4.8% from the previous historical high in June and increased by 35.4% from 17.2 million tons in the same period of last year. It again hit a new high, indicating that the demand of refinery companies continued to maintain a strong momentum.

Industry sources pointed out that since the beginning of this year, the domestic economy has continued to recover, vehicle sales have increased significantly, and agricultural and energy-saving emission reductions have driven up the demand for diesel oil and the continuous advancement of strategic oil reserves. Many factors have appeared, resulting in a significant increase in crude oil imports compared with previous years.

This news also brought some stimulation to international oil prices. Shortly after the release of the customs data, the price of crude oil in the United States re-opened 82 US dollars in electronic trading. As of 16:25 Beijing time, the US crude oil price in November rose by 0.94 U.S. dollars, or 1.15%, to 82.61 U.S. dollars per barrel. (Reporter Chen Qichen)
