Patients with myocardial infarction usually have chest pain, difficulty breathing and other symptoms, but these symptoms may also be due to high blood pressure, heart failure and other diseases, to a certain extent, will interfere with doctors diagnosed with myocardial infarction. The researchers found that blood myocardium troponin levels almost doubled three hours after admission in patients with myocardial infarction. Patients with hypertension, heart failure, renal insufficiency and other diseases may have elevated levels of cardiac troponin, but after 3 hours, this value remains essentially unchanged.
Therefore, the researchers set a critical value for blood cardiac troponin levels. If cardiac troponin levels did not exceed the critical value 3 hours after admission in patients with chest pain and dyspnea, the possibility of myocardial infarction could be ruled out. If the patient's protein content doubles after 3 hours, it is basically diagnosed as a myocardial infarction.
At this stage, this rapid detection of myocardial infarction has been put into use at the University of Hamburg-Eppendorf Medical Center. According to the medical center, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has begun examining whether this test method was introduced.
