How to improve the survival rate of fruit buds

June-September is a good time for fruit trees to pick up. Many fruit growers graft themselves in order to change the fine varieties, but the survival rate is not high. In fact, as long as you master the words of “irrigation, selection, follow, fast, flat, appropriate, complete, tight, inspection, solution, and management” during grafting, you can improve the survival rate of fruit trees.

Irrigation: that is, watering before grafting. In the long dry and rainless weather, the water should be properly watered one week before grafting, which promotes the active layer formation of the rootstock, and the cortex is easy to peel off, which can significantly improve the survival rate of the bud.

Choice: It is necessary to properly select the scion. Grafting survives mainly by relying on both the rootstock and the scion to grow callus. If the scion itself is weak or poorly stored, it can lead to graft failure. Therefore, when selecting the scion, select the upper part of the canopy as much as possible, and grow vigorously and vigorously, and preferably the spring shoots. When selecting the scion in the growing season, you should choose the developmental branches with full branches and full buds, but you must never choose long branches.

With: It is easy to use.

Fast: Grafting action is fast, try to reduce the contact time of the wound surface with the air, and it is beneficial to maintain the humidity of the wound and the vitality of the scion.

Flat: The wound surface should be smooth, not uneven, and it is advantageous to form a close layer.

Appropriate: The size of the bud is appropriate to the rootstock incision. If the bud is too small, the contact surface with the rootstock is small, which is not suitable for the formation of callus; if it is too large, it is easy to be damaged when inserting the rootstock incision, especially when the T-shaped bud is used.

Whole: The buds and rootstocks should be neatly smeared.

Tight: tightly wrapped with plastic strips so that the anvil and ears are in close contact and the petiole is exposed.

Inspection: 15-20 days after the connection, if the petiole used to touch the bud is touched, it means that the bud has survived. If the petiole is dry, it means that it is not connected and needs to be replenished.

Solution: Docking live buds should be unbound in time. The reason is that the summer and autumn rootstocks are thickened very quickly. Generally, after 20-30 days, the binding should be removed to ensure the normal growth of the buds.

Management: The management after grafting is very important. If the management is extensive, even if the grafting is successful, it will eventually be abandoned. The following work should be done: (1) In addition to the sprouting: the rootstock is sprouted more than 10 days after grafting, and should be removed in time to ensure that the nutrients absorbed by the roots are only for the growth of the scion. In addition to the germination to be carried out 3-4 times, it will not last long after the scion grows vigorously. (2) Tied up the stick: When the new shoot grows to 30 cm, tie the stick. The stick is more than 1 meter long, and one interface is one. The lower part is fixed, and the upper part is tied to the stick. As the new shoot grows, it is tied to 3-4 times in order to avoid the wind damage. (3) Topping: When the new shoot grows to a certain extent, it should be topped. After continuous picking of the heart for 1-2 times, it can promote the growth of the secondary shoots and the long side branches, which makes the crown full and compact and promotes the fullness of the branches.

(4) Prevention and control of pests and diseases: For food-borne pests, it is possible to spray insecticides such as trichlorfon and killing bacteria. If the interface is ill, it can be coated with a fungicide such as Bordeaux mixture.
