Water-based quenching medium FEROQUENCH2000

50CrMnMo steel is a medium carbon alloy steel with good comprehensive mechanical properties. It is one of the widely used steel grades for heavy machinery parts. It is usually used in quenched and tempered state, and the technical requirements are high, especially when the workpiece structure size is large. The heat treatment size effect is obvious, the quenching and cooling process must be strictly controlled to ensure the quenching and tempering treatment performance, and the suitable quenching cooling medium is the premise that the workpiece achieves the expected quenching and cooling effect. FEROQUENCH2000 is a water-based quenching medium with cooling performance close to that of quenching oil. Its vapor film stage is very short, which can make the workpiece cool on the cooling stage and obtain higher cooling rate. However, in the low temperature stage, the cooling rate is relatively mild. The martensite transformation microstructure stress is greatly reduced, which is beneficial to reduce the risk of deformation and cracking of the workpiece. At the same time, the concentration and temperature can be adjusted to meet the cooling requirements of different steel grades, and quenching soot can be avoided. Therefore, exploring new quenching media that meet the requirements of 50CrMnMo steel quenching and tempering technology is of great significance for improving the level of heat treatment process and realizing the development of green heat treatment process. This paper mainly studies the application of water-based quenching medium FEROQUENCH2000 in quenching and tempering treatment of 50CrMnMo steel.
