The drought in parts of northern China continues. National Climate Center monitoring shows that at present, meteorological drought in some areas of Shandong, Anhui, Jiangsu, Henan and other places has reached the drought standard. It is expected that there will be no effective precipitation in the meteorological arid areas of North China and Huanghuai in the coming week. The meteorological department will closely monitor the changes in meteorological drought conditions and carry out artificial precipitation enhancement operations in dry areas in due course.
The national meteorological drought and flood monitoring on the 29th of the National Climate Center shows that at present, there are meteorological droughts above the moderate drought level in the eastern part of North China and Huanghuai area. Among them, southern Shandong, northern Anhui, northern Jiangsu and parts of northeastern Henan standard.
According to the Shandong Provincial Government Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters, the drought situation in Shandong Province is still growing and the drought situation is severe. Since September 23 last year, the province's average precipitation has only 12 mm. At present, the province's meteorological drought has reached an extremely high drought level, and 320,000 people have temporary drinking water difficulties, involving 13 cities in 17 cities. The province has a total of 60.95 million mu of farmland affected by drought.
According to the Civil Affairs Department of Hebei Province, there has been no effective precipitation in most parts of Hebei Province since November 2010. The province suffered from severe drought, with 9.01 million people suffering from disasters and 370,000 people suffering from temporary drinking water due to drought.
In the face of severe drought, all regions are actively fighting drought. Since Shandong took the lead in completing the reinforcement of the reservoir last year, Shandong Province has saved more than 2.9 billion cubic meters of water in the same period of last year. The increased water storage in the flood season last year kept the groundwater level relatively abundant. In the drought-resistant wheat, the relevant departments of agriculture, water conservancy, finance, petroleum, electric power and other departments in Henan Province exert their respective advantages to fight drought.
On the 26th, Premier Wen Jiabao of the State Council presided over the State Council executive meeting to analyze the current drought situation and study the deployment of drought relief work. The meeting pointed out that since October last year, precipitation in North China, Huanghuai and other places has continued to be less, and different degrees of drought have occurred in the main winter wheat producing areas of Shandong, Henan, Hebei, Shanxi, Anhui and Jiangsu. It is predicted that in the coming period, the meteorological drought in these areas will continue to develop, and there is a high possibility of continuous drought in winter and spring, and the impact on agricultural production cannot be underestimated.
According to the latest forecast of the National Climate Center, there will be no obvious precipitation in North China and Huanghuai in the coming week, and the meteorological drought will continue to develop. The meteorological department will closely monitor the changes in meteorological drought conditions, strengthen the analysis and assessment of drought monitoring, and carry out artificial snow-increasing (rain) operations in dry areas in due course. Remind all relevant departments to base themselves on drought resistance and long-term drought relief, and work early to reduce the adverse impact of drought on agriculture.
