As an ideal clean energy, the power of the waves is enormous and infinite, but the submarine near the shore has loose sand and mud, which will absorb most of the energy and greatly reduce the power generation efficiency. An American team of scientists is experimentally developing an artificial submarine carpet. As shown in the above figure, a soft rubber carpet is laid on a hydraulic press on the sea floor. They transform the kinetic energy into electricity as the waves rise and fall. Currently, the device is being tested at the University of California, Berkeley, and was first put into use in 2016.
