A few days ago, Anxi Industry and Commerce Department dealt with a case where a wrought iron bed purchased online by a consumer was damaged during transportation and the seller was compensated.

In late February, Anxi consumer Ms. Zhuang complained to the local 12315, saying that she bought a wrought iron bed from an arts and crafts company in Anxi on February 5th at a price of 1300 yuan, plus a total logistics cost of 1500 yuan. Ms. Zhuang paid the above fees through Tenpay. On February 9, the merchant shipped the goods, and on February 17, the logistics company delivered the goods. Miss Zhuang found that the packaging of the iron bed was damaged and the paint on the top of the bed back was worn. She refused to sign the goods. The logistics company said it can return the goods and is willing to compensate 1,000 yuan. But Ms. Zhuang disagreed and asked the seller to complain to 12315 after unsuccessful handling, hoping to mediate.

Anxi County Penggu Industrial and Commercial Institute investigated and learned that Ms. Zhuang claimed that the logistics company compensated 1,000 yuan, but its actual loss was 1,500 yuan. It could not accept the compensation amount of the logistics company, and asked the seller to bear the corresponding compensation liability. The seller claimed that there was no quality problem at the time of delivery. The damage to the iron bed was caused by the logistics company's careless packaging and should be compensated by the logistics company.

After mediation, the seller accepted the return and refunded the consumer ’s payment and shipping fee of 1,500 yuan through Tenpay, and negotiated with the logistics company to reach an agreement to compensate the consumer for economic losses of 70 yuan.
