Automotive Manufacturing Cutting System Engineering and Applications (4)

3. Differentiate common causes and special causes that affect system changes

As a dynamic system, the cutting system has been undergoing various changes. From the perspective of system engineering, the causes of the changes can be divided into common causes and special causes. The common cause is the random variation factor inherent in the system, and the special cause is not inherent to the system, but it can cause significant changes in the system output.

As can be seen from the diagram of tool life variation over time (Fig. 3), the tool life originally fluctuated up and down around a certain average value. The cause of this small fluctuation is the common cause of the system, but if the tool life suddenly becomes short after a period of time or It becomes longer, and there must be some special reason.

Figure 3 Schematic diagram of tool life as a function of time

At this time, it is necessary to find out the special reasons and take corresponding measures, or to restore the tool life to the original level, or find a favorable factor, you should try to consolidate it and become inherent in the system. Factors that extend tool life and reduce tool costs.

4. Pay attention to the influence of cutting fluid on cutting system

1 The application of cutting fluid in machining is very common, but its various functions such as lubrication and cooling are not well known for the importance of cutting.

2 Recognize the tribological properties of the cutting tribology system and understand the importance of choosing the right lubrication method, lubrication method and lubrication medium.

3 In the process control of cutting process, the cutting fluid and its lubrication method including cutting fluid type, concentration, cleanliness, pH value, flow rate, pressure, etc. must be strictly controlled as process control parameters, so as to ensure the required cutting. Processability and processing quality and high production efficiency.
