Pakistan’s textile exporters collectively decided a few days ago that due to the soaring prices of cotton yarns in their domestic markets, exporters in Pakistan will stop purchasing domestically produced cotton yarns, and will stop production at the time of closure. It is reported that the decision is intended to urge the Pakistani government to take action to curb speculation in the local cotton yarn market.
At present, the rapid increase in domestic cotton yarn prices in Pakistan, coupled with energy shortages and other factors, has led to a decline in the competitiveness of its textile exports, causing dissatisfaction in the industry. In addition, the textile industry also requires the government to reduce import tariffs on man-made fibers in order to ease the situation of high cotton yarn prices.
