I. Introduction

As a new high-performance tool material, Polycrystalline Cubic Boron Nitride (PCBN) has received extensive attention in the field of machining. PCBN tools have excellent cutting performance and are ideally suited for advanced machining processes such as hard cutting, dry cutting, and high-speed cutting. Especially in the machining of difficult-to-machine materials, automatic production line processing, etc., it has the advantage that other tools are incomparable. Although the use of PCBN tools is expanding and achieving great economic benefits, there is currently no consulting system that can provide guidance and information on PCBN tools quickly and conveniently, so that field operators can choose and use them correctly. PCBN tools bring great inconvenience. To this end, this paper developed a PCBN tool multimedia database consulting management system. With this system, users can effectively manage and quickly query the processing information of PCBN tools (such as cutting amount, tool geometry parameters, etc.), and reasonably select PCBN tool products, which can effectively improve the use efficiency of PCBN tools and reduce production. cost. The system can also play a good role in promoting the rational design and application of PCBN tools.

Second, the system structure and function modules

The PCBN tool multimedia database consulting management system is a database application software mainly for processing field tool users and based on Windows NT/98 environment. In addition to the functions of the general database, the system also has multimedia technology consulting, database management, simulation and demonstration of PCBN tool related information. The system structure is shown in Figure 1.

The database management module consists of three sub-modules: cutting database, video database and image database, which can realize the functions of browsing, querying, adding, deleting and editing the database. Figure 2 shows the computer interface of the database management system.
